Photo Hunt

The theme of this week's is BRIGHT!

His future is so bright he's got to wear shades (and goggles). This is from when we were on the beach in Ocean City, Maryland

New House

So we went and picked up our jacuzzi tub today. UMM it is larger than the bed of our truck. I can't wait to try it out. Which won't be until end of July I'm sure :( But hey we are getting closer to getting stuff done with the new house. HOWEVER, we still have tons to do. The work on the kitchen should start sometime next week (lets hope). We are really waiting for our kitchen to be done to move in to. I don't cook a ton but I have to have a sink and dishwasher at least LOL. We also ordered the bathroom vanity, mirror, towel cabinet and vanity top. We found the fridge, dishwasher and, microwave we want. We had to leave the story because hubby had to go to work. So we will be spending more gas tomorrow to go up and purchase those items and bringing them home! OH then I am really looking forward to going furniture shopping. We are getting all new living room furniture! And then I have to fill a room that I have no idea what the purpose of that room will be LOL. I mean its off the entry way but its large so its not like I have just put a bench in it. Hubby wants to get a large fish tank and put it in there. So that will at least take up one wall. It is just getting closer and closer to the time that we can move in and it really feel like our home. Then comes the task of selling the home we live in right now. Shouldn't be too hard, there's really nothing in the town that is the price range of this house. Plus I'm sure many people will be looking for new homes because of the flooding. Which by the way is starting to come down!!!!! I know there are people who won't be back to their homes for many months and it breaks my heart. I just hope that they were able to save things like pictures, those types of things that can't ever be replaced. Please keep all those people in your heart during this time!!!

I'm back

OK so If anyone wondered where in the world I went, I went out to Maryland for my sister's wedding. We drove there (from Iowa) since flying would have cost us WAY more and that way we got to do so much more along the way. The kids were great little travlers we only had a couple times where Kayleigh was just DONE with being in the car. Aidan was fine as we have a DVD in the car for him. I will be updating little by little because trying to do it all at once will just be too much. I have to go back to work tomorrow, BOO! Its been so nice not having to live in the real world for the past two weeks. UMM came home to flooding, but I live right on the Mississippi River I knew that was going to happen. Thankfully are house is not in any sort of danger. But we did have to take a couple of detours as MUCH of the way from IL into IA is closed. I some how managed to NOT gain ANY weight while on vacation. I guess all those hot days and walking all over theme parks saved me LOL.

3 years

Today was Joe and I's 3-year wedding anniversary! We went out to a nice fancy Japanese restaurant and then to a movie and then home. The In-Laws watched the kiddos so we could have a nice relaxing night out. And it was a nice time, for just him and me. We have been so busy with working on the house that we haven't really gotten to spend time together!

4 more sleeps

UNTIL we leave for vacation! We are driving to Maryland for my sister's wedding. She is getting married on the 14th. So we are going to leave the 8th and just do whatever we want along the way. I didn't want to be held down with "we have to drive 4 more hours to our hotel". I want to be able to see a sign for something that looks like it will be fun and pull over and do it! Hoping to meet up with someone I've chatted with for almost 4 years online. She has a son the same age as Aidan and so that would be super fun to get to finally meet them. Oh and its pretty bad when you have to drive to Maryland to see one of your best friends from highschool, when for the past 7 years we have lived within 2 hours of one another. I have seen her several times within the past 7 years but I haven't seen her in 9months. And she is doing her med school in Baltimore.
So if anyone knows some interesting things to do in IL, IN, WV, please drop me a note so I can check it out!

Memorial Day

So this has been by far the hardest Memorial Day I've ever had. I kinda went through it without being there. Does that make any since what so ever? My mother and I have always gone over to our families graves and put flowers down and talked about who the were and all that jazz. Well this year I did it without my mother. Joe along with the kids went with me but it wasn't the same. First off I can't remember who half of these people are. I know the names and where they are laid to rest but I don't know how they are related to me. Even with my mother going over who they are year after year I didn't actually think I would need to retain this info for many many years to come. And for the fact that we actually hadn't been for the past 2 years didn't help. I felt horrible the last 2 years for not going, but I had just had a baby last year and the year before that we were out of town. I mean I don't have anyone around to actually tell me who they are anymore. How am I going to pass this on to my kids? Of course I know like grandparents and great grandparents but passed that I don't know. I know the names and that's it. It also made it harder for me that I don't have a "place" to honor my mother. She wanted to be cremated and so we respected that. My sister and brother and I all agreed we would take apart of her. She is in my home but I don't feel like its enough. I want others to know her as well be able to have that place. Because I know that when I lost my great grandmother it was comforting to have that place. This has been a hard couple of days as the 23rd was her birthday and then today. I smile for all the joy she gave and cry for all the joy I will miss. I also lost a friend when we were 19. He was a wonderful person through and through. I hadn't been to his grave site in about 3 years. When I went today it was hard, because on his headstone is his senior picture. He was so young, and was full of promise and it kinda hit me about how my life has changed since then (6 years) and how he will forever remain that age.

Photohunt: Shoes

So is it wrong if your son as an infant had more shoes then your daughter? Kayleigh hates shoes and I up until about a month ago she never wore them. I couldn't even get her feet into a pair. She's better now, but still prefers to not wear them.

Friday Feast

So I haven't done a Friday Feast since the first time I did one (it was a while back). So I thought I would do it again. And happens again? The host is gone again, how strange is that? So I am using Tina's guestions. So here it goes

Appetizer: Wii, Playstation or XBox? Umm unless you've been living under a rock you have to know that Wii is the best ever! We got one back in Jan and love it so much. I would love to get the Wii Fitness Game. I'll wait until we move because who am I kidding I don't have time for that right now.
Soup: Would you ever go skydiving?
You know I think I would. I have always wanted to do it, and even though I have kids and I feel as if it would be an pretty big risk. Isn't that what life is all about?
Salad: Name a sequel that you think is better than the original movie.
Oh my I have no idea.
Main Course: Share your most wonderful birthday celebration.
I would have to say when I turned 7 and had my birthday in a caboose of a train! It was the coolest thing to do at the time and I got to do it:)
Dessert: If you dare, post a picture of yourself making a silly face.
Being silling on our St. Louis trip

Heads Up

Ok so I wanted to say "Heads Up Seven Up" that was such a great game in school. BUT that is not why I am here. I am here to tell EVERYONE about a great giveaway. Kristin from An Ordinary Life is giving away a Dyson Ball vacuum cleaners. Yes you read that right, a Dyson Ball vacuum cleaner. So you better head on over if you would like the chance to win one of your own!!!!
Oh and you won't have to compete with my entry as I'm not entering this giveaway. I already have a Dyson and I beyond LOVE IT. We got it when we had our 2 dogs and I never knew how dirty my floors really were until I used my dyson. It picks everything up and really does not ever clog. Plus its just fun to use, yup I said it I like to vaccum:)

I am so proud of myself

Ok so I am a normal woman and I gained some weight when I was preggo. And like a lot of other normal women it didn't just melt off 20mins after giving birth. In my case most of it stuck around for 3.5 years (due to me being lazy about it). But something amazing happened last night. I went and bought jeans in SINGLE digits!!!!! Now it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the size I got were 7/8's. I haven't worn that size for like 4-5 years. I have worked hard to get where I am now. I still have some ways to go but I want to shout this from the roof tops (my key board is that for me right now as my neighbors might call the cops if I were to do something like that LOL)
This is also a YOU CAN DO IT to every person out there who is on this same bumpy, hilly, happy, upsetting road that I am on. I had times where I wasn't losing any weight and I got upset at myself about that. But I was able to get back up and get going. For my total goal weight I need to loose another 18lbs to go. I'm sure at that point I'll set another goal for myself but right now when I get to that point you'll all know it :)

What a week

OK so I know I have been a BAD BAD Blogger, but I have hardly sat down at all this week. Well I have at work but I don't think they would like it if I was blogging on their dime. (wouldn't that be nice lol). Here is what has happened in the last week. Our computer got a virus from some A-HOLE who posted on my blog!! So it was in the shop from Thur-Monday. Then on Tues, we worked on the house got a lot of painting done. Aidan's room is now FIRE ENGINE RED!! (oh and if anyone knows where I can get pirate themed bedding and stuff like that, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg PLEASE share!!!) Then on Wed not much other than the normal everyday work, take care of kids, clean the house stuff. Then Yesterday we took Aidan to see some specialist about his behavior. Pretty much this was to "hold" us over until his real appt in Sept. They pretty much didn't do anything or say anything that we didn't know. But then again we didn't see the behavioral specialist either. I don't see how in the world a doctor could actually be booked 5-6 months in advance. Honestly is this the ONLY doctor in the state of Iowa to actually do this? Then today I worked, then came home when little Miss Kayleigh woke up we went and bought a table for outside since her party is on Sunday and I have nothing for people to put drinks or cake down on. Then we went and spent the rest of the afternoon/evening at the park.
BUT here is my GREAT NEWS, I finally got my mother's day present and it is a Nikon D60!!! So I had lots of fun taking shots of the kids all day long. Pretty sure they were sick of being blinded by the time I put it away. I am going to have to really study up on this camera so I can use it to its full power. I think I might take a class at our local community college to help me out. Tomorrow is going to be spent cleaning the inside and the outside getting ready for Kayleigh's party that is on Sunday. I am quite upset with people and them not coming to her party, but I guess whatever. At least she's only 1 and doesn't know any better, and she'll have fun playing in her cake.

And the Winner IS....

Post #3, and this was done by random drawing. Thank You to everyone that entered my first drawing!!! (just remember that you need to pay attention to the rulese because it says you have to put your email in your comment. 2 other people were drawn before her but, didn't put down an email address SORRY!)

Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion&Giveaway!!!

this post will remain at the top of the page until the contest is over. For more current post scroll down. and while your down there sign up to win! ww is down below along with some other great posts!!! (like giveaways from other people as well)

Skin MD Natural. is a product I had never heard about another blogger wrote about them. And from her review of this product, I knew I had to try it out.(Thanks Gina!!) So after contacting the great people at Skin MD Natural. I was lucky enough to get a free sample. I am so glad that I was able to do this, I love this stuff. I have been using it now for 2 days and my hands feel 1000 times better than they ever have.

What is a Shielding Lotion you ask?
"Shielding lotion is a lotion that forms a protective barrier on the skin and keeps out irritants and chemicals. It also allows the natural oils and moisture to remain in the skin so it can heal better. It is a big advantage that shielding lotions are light and go on without a greasy mess," says Dr. Brian Zogg, a dermatologist in Albert Lea, MN. "When you have dry, itchy skin you know that the protective outer layer of skin has been stripped away. The artificial moisturizers in conventional creams and lotions can send a signal to the moisture producing parts of your skin that enough moisture is present. Your skin then makes less of the natural moisture needed to resolve a dry skin problem. With a shielding lotion you protect your own natural oils and moisture in the skin, so it heals faster," says Dr. Zogg

Even with winter coming to an end I will still be using this lotion everyday on my hands. (You can use it for your face and body as well) I am always washing my hands between diaper changes, helping a 3 year old to the bathroom, and working with the general public. I have had times before where I washed my hands so much they would be cracked and bleeding. And other lotions did nothing for them. My hands were not as bad to where they were cracked and bleeding but I could tell as soon as I put it on it was like no other lotion I had ever tried. What I love most is the fact you don't get the greasy feeling. I can't stand when you put a lotion on and feel as if you need to wipe them off because of a greasy residue. Oh and for the fact when they say "A little goes a long way" they mean it!

More about my mother

So if you read my last post you would see that I lost my mother in Aug. of 2007. The worst day of my life. And I'm sure it will contiune to be so for many many years. Well at least I hope nothing as worse as that day happens any time soon. She was not only my mother but my best friend, my hero, and the grandmother to my children. Its actually really hard for me to think about my children not having her in their lives. Thats what gets me the most when they do something cute (or even not so cute) I just want to pick up the phone and call her.
So I am going to post a few pictures along with a little story about each one.

My mother ALWAYS played with us at the parks. She loved going down slides with us and showing us new tricks. I am the little girl standing in AWW of her amazing mother. I don't have a picture of it but she showed of this amzingness to my son, it was a different park but she was still doing this exact thing 18 years later.

My mother and I on my 23 birthday at a Trace Adkins concert.

Motherhood

With Mother's Day just around the corner a lot of people are having contest that are centered around that. And the ladies over at Five Minutes for Mom are hosting a Photo Contest theme just about motherhood. Get ready for this prize!!!! A $1,000 American Express Gift Card–Sponsored by Egg Beaters to spend any way you want! Five Minutes for Mom are looking for your photos that you feel tell a story about motherhood. You can put up a picture of your mother, grandmother, yourself, or your kids.

SO, picking just one photo is very hard for me! My mother passed away in Aug. of 2007 so I want to put EVERY photo that I have of her up. Because thats all I have left, and they are my memories, my link to her. She was a wonderful person through and through. And the best mother any child could ever ask for. As I've been looking for just the right photo I think, "Well I want to put that one up because it shows this side of her, or that side of her." So selecting this photo has been very very hard for me. So I hope that it does show the world what Motherhood is all about!
This is my mother with my brother on his 6th birthday. She dressed up like a clown, went to his school and sang and danced and did the whole 9 yards not just for him but his whole class. How I feel this is motherhood at its finest is because a mother does anything for her child and LOVES doing it. Loves seeing the joy that they put apon their childs face when they do silly things like dress up like a clown and come to your class.

Here's are the details about the contest
*If you are a blogger, post your photo on your site and then you need to go back to Five Minutes for Mom and link your post back to them. If your post on your blog, you may explain why the photo says motherhood or just let the photo speak for its self.
*If you are not a blogger - you can still play!!! Just email us your photo, with the subject line Photo Contest, to 5minutesformom @ gmail dot com. (Please add your image into the copy of the email so that we do not have to open attachments.)
*On May 2nd, fifteen finalists will be posted along with a survey box for everyone to vote for their favorite. If you are selected as a finalist, feel free to announce it on your blog, facebook, twitter, etc and get your friends to vote for you. That is fair game.
Voting will close May 9th at 9:00pm EST. We will announce the winner on Mothers Day May 11th.

Beautiful Day

It was a perfect day in Iowa! In the mid 60's with NO major wind. I live right on the Mississipi River so we get a lot of wind. We spent pretty much all day outside, jumping on the trampoline, Aidan learning how to ride his bike, playing on the swingset. The only downer was, we went for a family bike ride, and the trailer that the kiddo's sit in got a flat tire from something. So Joe will have to take it to get fixed. We had only been riding for like 15mins so BOO! But we came home had dinner, THEN took Aidan and Kayleigh fishing for the first time. Well really just Aidan fished but Kayleigh went along of course. We had found a great little pole for him the other week, it was so cute! He did really well with it and he was so excited to try it out. Not to mention when we were driving around the lake he got to sit in the bed of the truck with me. I love how the smallest things mean the world to him! We didn't catch any fish, don't even think we had a bite but oh well there's always next time.

Here's my bad mommy moment! We all got sunburned, well Kayleigh did NOT because she was sleeping in the house during the time Joe, Aidan and myself did. Its on the back of our forearms. I feel so bad, Aidan has never gotten burnt before and was wanting to keep it that way for a long long long time. I just didn't even think about it at all. I'm sure his little arms hurt, because mine sure do. We put some aloe on it and some meds, so hopfully it won't cause him too much pain!!!
